The King to operate passenger services at Ribble Steam Railway
We don’t yet have confirmation whether King Charles III is able to join us himself, but we are offering a wonderful opportunity to ride behind Borrows No.48, “The King”
The 119 year old locomotive is one of only 3 survivors from the Borrows company, based in St Helens, Lancashire – and the only operational locomotive of this type.
Due to his diminutive size, he doesn’t normally appear on standard passenger services at Riversway, but does feature in our gala events working in tandem with other locomotives.
However, for this event, the locomotive will be working by itself, hauling a shorter two carriage train for 5 return trips during the day, offering a rare opportunity to ride behind this exceptional locomotive
