Half Day – Half Price as Ribble Steam Railway prepares for August 1st Radio Visit
Following the exciting launch of a new volunteer and visitor centre, named the ‘Exploration Centre’, on July 20th, Ribble Steam Railway volunteers are keeping up their ‘head of steam’ with a special half day opening on Wednesday August 1st.
Volunteers from across the railway are coming together to welcome John Gilmore, Radio Lancashire presenter, who will broadcast a special programme for the afternoon and will take to the tracks by riding a locomotive himself on the railway’s 1.25 mile line on Preston’s former docks.
Members of the public are being encouraged to attend this special afternoon by incentives such as guided tours of the museum’s amazing collections of steam and diesel locomotive and complimentary tea and cake offered in the cafe.
Special pricing is in place for the afternoon, which represents great value for visitors. Adults enter at £3.50, Concessions (60+ / Carers and the less able) and Children at £2.25 and Families of Four for £10. Tickets are purchasable on the day. The museum opens at 12 noon, and closes at 5pm.
Oliver Edwards, Front of House Manager commented “It’s great to welcome John Gilmore to Preston’s historic dockside line again, and we hope to see many members of the public joining us to celebrate recent achievements such as the opening of our Exploration Centre”.
