Have you been thinking about how volunteering could bring benefits to your life?
Keeping well and active is important for us all whatever our age from 18- 80 years! After Covid-19 and lockdowns, coming together in communities is a real treat and we are happy to be recruiting volunteers again at the railway.
Volunteering is an excellent way to keep well; mentally physically and emotionally. It can lift your spirits in life’s normal ups and down. You can share or learn new skills and make new friends by joining a community of like-minded people. The railway is a great environment and atmosphere, and it can take away the troubles of concerns of everyday life; unlocking new possibilities by getting involved with something rather special.
We are having a volunteering wellness day to celebrate the benefits of volunteering and to encourage you to join us and find out more. To show off a little! Come along relax, visit our museum and take a train ride. You’ll be treated to 1/2 price admission, a slice of cake and a cup of tea or coffee from our new cafe. You have the chance to chat to our staff and volunteers (pictured below) our Workshop, Operations, Front of House and Museum. A chance to listen to the stories of our people on the front line!
We have many departments and roles and activities to get involved with from Front of House and Visitor Care, Digital and Social, Museum and Archives, to the Restoration and Maintenance of Locomotives. You can even train to be part of our Locomotive Operations Team as a Fireman, Guard, Driver.
Join our amazing volunteers who are all helping to preserve Lancashire’s industrial railway history and cultural heritage for current and future generations. And hopefully we’ll sharing a bit of our fun Ribble spirit!
