Over the past few years, our popular family visitor attraction has been expanding and developing. This is down to the time, commitment and efforts of our fabulous volunteer team. At Ribble we know our volunteers make a difference and we care about our volunteers.
Why Volunteer? Are you looking to do something in your spare time? Or do you want to develop new skills and experiences? Maybe you want to share your talents, knowledge and experience? Meet new friends?
Volunteering is a fabulous way to keep fit and well whatever your age, from 18- 80 years! Here at Ribble Steam Railway and Museum we offer you great opportunities, in our unique working heritage railway and museum. Imagine training to be a Loco Driver, Fireman or Guard? Or join our energetic Front of House (FOH) team and try out your talents in catering, retail and museum. Full training and support will be given.

As a young person we can offer you new experiences and training, whatever your abilities.
You can learn from more experienced volunteers, in all industry sectors including retail, engineering, marketing, finance, museum and collections, education, customer services, catering or operations.

Come along to our FREE Volunteer Open day April 10 – 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Relax, visit our museum and take a train ride. We have plenty of different opportunities for you to find out more and meet new people! We are a friendly bunch. On the day you’ll be treated to train rides, a slice of cake and a cup of tea or coffee and the chance to chat to our volunteers from the Workshop and Museum. Get involved with events and activities and start thinking more about you and your health- mental, emotional and physical. And hopefully we’ll sharing a bit of our fun Ribble spirit!
