At Ribble Steam Railway, we’re very proud to host the Furness Railway Trust, their workshops and, at present, their prized possession – Britain’s oldest working steam locomotive, Furness Railway No.20.

At 155 years young, she is certainly a crowd-pleaser and was rebuilt into her original form in the late 1990s by skilled engineers and volunteers with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Now, this ‘old girl’ needs work again to have her operational well into the future.

The weekend of July 7th and 8th is the last time this historic locomotive will run at Ribble Steam Railway and Museum, before work begins. Catch her on hourly trains from 11am each day!
