1956 English Electric built, Nederland Spoorwagen (NS, Dutch Railways) class 600 number 663.

The Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) bought sixty-five Class 600 diesel shunters (numbered 601-665). They were built by English Electric at either Dick, Kerr & Co. Works (601-610) in Preston, or Vulcan Foundry Works (rest) in Newton-le-Willows between 1950 and 1957. They are very similar to the British Rail Class 11. Twenty-three locomotives were later fitted with radio remote-control, and renumbered in the range 671-693.

The NS, 600 class is based on the British Railway’s class 08 shunting loco and returned to the UK in 2005, originally based at The Ribble Steam Railway in Preston and after spending 2 months in the North West she moved on to The Dartmoor Railway before going to the National Railway Museum in 2006 and then to ‘Locomotion’, the National Railway Museum’s annex in Shildon, County Durham. Now returned to running order.
