Enterprise was delivered new to the docks system in 1968, where she, along with her sister locomotives Energy and Progress replaced nine steam locomotives.

Enterprise is being repainted into original green livery as delivered in 1968  for the 50th anniversary in 2018

After spending her career moving many types of train, but concentrating on the bitumen business, Enterprise went into retirement in 1995 when the trains ceased. She was purchased from Preston Council during 2002 and was restored in readiness to return to bitumen traffic once more. The loco is currently seeing regular service hauling these trains along the dock branch.
